Warehouse Specialist – Delivery

Summary:

The warehouse specialist processes orders, accepts deliveries, makes deliveries, and keeps the warehouse organized, which includes everything from physically moving product around the warehouse space to properly maintaining all shipping and receiving records. Maintain Storage Area Spare Parts Inventory and levels. Document spare part inventory sent to specific job locations when requested by the Installation Team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining a clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Receives customer and client orders.
  • Packs and ships orders for delivery.
  • Inspects all orders being received and shipped, checking for damage, defective parts, and missing items.
  • Reports and returns damaged product.
  • Operates forklift or other machinery required for transporting large orders and heavy products.
  • Keeps warehouse area clean and organized.
  • Maintain Storage Area Spare Parts Inventory and levels. Document spare part inventory sent to specific job locations when requested by the Installation Team.
  • Delivers material to various locations, requiring a significant amount of time driving company vehicles.
  • Perform cleanouts of scrap and surplus materials from Central Office locations once installations are completed and notified by the Installation Team.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Credentials and Experience:

  • High school degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Must have been previously certified to operate a forklift.
  • Must have experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other inventory management software used by the company.
  • Clean driving record with no incidents within the past 5 years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of warehousing techniques.
  • Knowledge of standard warehouse or stockroom practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the proper way to stock shelves.
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  • Skilled in using computers and basic application software used in warehouse operations.
  • Skilled in using common warehouse machinery and equipment.
  • Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
  • Skilled in following written and oral instructions. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Maintains physical stamina and strength required to move heavy equipment and product weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be capable of managing time effectively and multitasking as necessary.
  • Demonstrates familiarity with all warehouse safety precautions and is able to observe these at all times.

Special Requirements:

  • Shipping and receiving specialists must have a command of mathematics and must pay attention to details.
  • Depending upon the nature of work, the workers should take care of points such as cleanliness, punctuality, and safety codes.

Driver Specific Requirements:

Driver qualifications and knowledge requirements vary depending on the travel distance from their reporting location (local/OTR), class of vehicle driven (<>10000 lbs GVWR), and class of driver’s license held (CDL/NON-CDL)

  • Know, understand, and adhere to applicable USDOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Know, understand, and adhere to the Company’s general driving policies
  • Perform inspections of assigned trucks as required
  • Log and submit Hours of Service as required
  • Submit a Driver’s application to the Company
  • Submit to and pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check at the time of hire and on an annual basis (or more often as deemed necessary)
  • Submit to and pass a drug screen at the time of hire and on an annual basis (or more often as deemed necessary)
  • Submit to and pass a pre-employment background check at the time of hire and on an annual basis (or more often as deemed necessary)
  • Submit to and pass a physical medical exam by a licensed medical provider registered to the FMCSA medical registry at the time of hire and on a bi-annual basis (or more often as deemed necessary)
  • Take and complete all initial training as listed on the Company’s Core Skills Matrix

Work Environment:

  • The majority of a typical workday is spent in a warehouse making deliveries.
  • Time may also b e spent meeting with supervisors i n an office.
  • Warehouse temperatures are variable and often uncontrolled, unless the product being stored requires the maintenance of a specific temperature.
  • Conditions in the warehouse can b e dangerous, as tasks involve the operation of material handling equipment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
